That’s Bonnie Elizabeth Efird (“bee”) many moons ago, circa 1994 or so. And here’s the Bonnie of today.
This NC native is a mover and a shaker. She is also a writer, a communicator, a wordsmith, a strategist, a creative, and a brainstormer. Her brain knows how to make it rain. Bonnie has worked in a number of internships in multiple communications roles, but found that her passion lies within creative strategy and writing, especially during her time as a Creative intern for ID Public Relations in Los Angeles.
Bonnie moved to Los Angeles in 2012 after graduating from Elon University with a B.A. in Journalism to intern with TBWA/Chiat/Day as a social media intern for the Nissan account. While at Chiat, Bonnie became entranced watching the copywriters…And decided to become one. To build a copywriting portfolio, Bonnie attended Book Shop LA classes at night while pursuing acting gigs and working as a manager at Exhale, a yoga/barre studio and spa in Santa Monica. Then, in order to gain further skills in strategic communication planning and management, Bonnie decided to pursue a Master’s in Strategic Communication at Pepperdine University starting in 2014.
While at Pepperdine, Bonnie worked as a graduate assistant in the communication division, specifically helping with the undergraduate Public Relations courses, and served as the Executive Director of The Waves Effect, the student-run strategic communications firm on campus specializing in creating advertising and PR campaigns for select clients. There, she managed nine undergraduate students, who made up the executive board (directors and coordinators), and five undergraduate project associates (freelancers).
Bonnie recently graduated from Pepperdine University in April 2016 with a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication with a focus on creative communications in Public Relations and Advertising. Pepperdine Communication faculty honored Bonnie (and made her blush) when they gave her the “Outstanding Graduate Student in Strategic Communications” award. In her ideal world, Bonnie would craft incredible copy and brand messages for top firms and causes such as women’s rights & children’s health, play a character in Broad City (YASS QUEEN) and make cameos on SNL all while teaching Pilates + Dressage horseback riding lessons on her organic veggie farm. And, for Pete’s sake, she would be tight friends with Steve Carell, Mindy Kaling, Lee Clow, Hillary Clinton and Kristen Wiig. A girl’s gotta dream, right?
